The U.S. government had issued a statement saying USDA was responsible for the death of hundreds of birds in South Dakota, but the death of 10,000 cows and buffalos in Vietnam remain a mystery. The government has released a statement about the mass animal deaths, saying winter was the cause of the death. However, some residents still have questions in their mind because they never experienced such massive deaths before.
Cattle have been dying throughout the nationwide, which has had a particularly severe winter. According to Thanh Nien News, the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang was the hardest hit with 2,260 dead cattle. Some have said the number of total dead cattle may be as high as 13,000.
The death of 10,000 cattle in Vietnam is the latest string of mass animal deaths throughout the world.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam said that the death of more than 10,000 cows and buffalo in the country was caused by extreme weather.
Several massive animal deaths have dragged media attention this year. Thousands of dead birds fell out in Arkansas, with other massive bird deaths coming after in California, Louisiana, Italy, Romania and Sweden. In additional, 100 tons of dead fish were found in Brazil, hundreds of crabs washed away in Britain, and hundreds of fish were discovered dead in New Zealand and also in Arkansas.
